The kid who loved computers

Ever since his primary school days, Mark knew he wanted to work with computers. Taking apart his Commodore 64/ZX Spectrum 48K and putting them back together again, was one of his favorite pastimes as a young boy. Naturally, he chose IT as one of his A-levels at Sixth form college!

Fascinated by technology and the pace of change, he worked in the IT industry from banking to manufacturing & retail to construction sectors, garnering valuable experience for almost 2 decades.

The firm beginning

In 2011, working as Service Desk IT Manager at a prestigious firm, Mark had an epiphany.

Realising that the ever-evolving technological landscape of today’s businesses poses a huge challenge to SMBs with a limited budget; Mark decided it was time to bring a practical solution to the market, fully understanding what individuals & businesses need to make their IT operations simple and stress-free.

His knack for designing result-oriented solutions keeping his clients secure, compliant and making their lives easier, led to the foundation of Mark1 IT Solutions.

Mark1 IT Solutions is an IT services company, working with the mission to simplify the provision of IT Support to SMBs in the Midlands area, bridging the knowledge gap between customers and the ever-evolving technological landscape. We make sure that our customers receive the best possible IT solutions for their needs; within their budget and timeframe.

From fixing computers in his living room to running a small team, Mark’s passion for helping people by designing befitting solutions for smoother businesses operations grows every day. His first love will always be computers, but he still makes time for family and enjoys fitness routines like running & cycling.

Mark started his business, Mark1 IT Solutions, back in 2011, with over 20 years’ experience coupled with a full understanding of exactly what individuals & businesses really need to make their IT requirements simple and stress-free as possible, he realised their requirements could be met and made so much better.
Mark has worked within IT in many varied sectors from banking, manufacturing, retail and the building industry. Mark and his team have a clear and defined aim – give the customer what they need in IT support and development within budget and on time. Mark is keen to come to your business and evaluate any areas for improvement or efficiencies giving support and back up when you need it; letting you concentrate on developing your business, confident your IT won’t let you down.
Kimberley Smith

With two decades of diverse experience in printed and online media, including sales and management roles within a large organisation, Kim brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her work. She previously served as Head of Customer Services, both national and international, for over 3 years, in a London-based wellness company where she helped develop and expand the successful customer care operations. Now, as part of Mark1 IT Solutions, she works to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the business.

With over 45 years of experience in accounts and office management across sectors like construction, agriculture, and charities, Rachel joined Mark1 IT Solutions as Accounts Administrator in 2024. After retiring to Portugal for a self-sufficient lifestyle, she returned to the UK to be closer to family and reignited her passion for work. Rachel brings precision, reliability, and a steady hand to Mark1’s financial operations. Outside of work, she enjoys family life and values independence and meaningful contribution.
